Friday Blog Hops #6

It's Friday so that means it is time for Feature and Follow Friday hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. I absolutely love this week's question: What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your favorite character?

I love movies very much. About as much as I love books, so for the most part, I love seeing books turned into something great on the silver screen. I have thought about what would make a good movie quite often actually.

Darkfever (The Fever Series) by Karen Marie Moning: I may have only read the first in this series so far, but I know it would make a great movie. As far as who to cast, I'm not too sure for Mac because I am not familiar with teen actors these days, but as far as Jericho Barrons is concerned, I've had a few potential players flash through my mind. Either Julian McMahon or Oded Fehr (now that I think of it they were both on Charmed . Truly a coincidence there). Now you can't deny these are some seriously sexy mysterious men, perfect to play Jericho.

P.S. It seems that this might be a movie in the making. Darkfever does have an IMDB page that says it is in development for 2013, so I will keep my fingers crossed!

Aside from Hunger Games, which is awesome and really one of my favorite books, I would like to mention Brave New World. I think this book was amazing. It was one of the originally dystopian books and I think even though the ideas in Brave New World are absolutely crazy, some of Huxley's predictions of society are oddly similar to how things are today. I suppose you have to be a pessimist like me to see it this way, though.

Friday Blog Hops #5

 Participating in Follow Friday at Parajunkee and Alison Can Read is a great way to find new blogger friends and rediscover old ones! I always enjoy reading the answers to follow friday questions. This week's question is:
Do you have a favorite series that you read over and over again? Tell us a bit about it and why you keep on revisiting it?

What a great question. At this point in my life, I've been really busy reading new books, so going back to ones I've already read isn't a top priortiy. However, I have reread a few series, but my most favorite one would have to be the The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop. I really wish more people would read this one. It is an adult fantasy set in a really harsh yet beautiful land. The characters are all morally in a state of grey. You never know what's going to happen. It follows a lot of the classic epic fantasy lines, but I think Anne Bishop writes all her characters so well, that it is easy to come back to and read again when the mood strikes you.

This weeks question is: It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

It would be so hard to pick just one! So aside from Harry Potter (I mean who wouldn't want to do magic and play quidditch and eat all that neat-o candy), I think I would choose to make the world from the Fever books by Karen Marie Moning real. I really enjoy the story of the fey and Jericho is awesome! I've only read the first book, but already the world is so engrossing that I need more! I also love the fact that it is set in Dublin which is pretty much a whole other world to me already. And also the Sookie Stackhouse universe (more True Blood than the novels though) because there is never a dull moment in Bon Temps and it seems like everyone is something special be it a vamp, were, shifter, or faerie!

Friday Blog Hops #3

It's (almost) Friday, so it's time again for my favorite hops of the week! Today's question over at Crazy for Books is “Many of us primarily read one genre of books, with others sprinkled in. If authors stopped writing that genre, what genre would you start reading? Or would you give up reading completely if you couldn’t read that genre anymore?”

This is actually difficult for me to answer because I never really did focus on mainly one genre. I always have read different stuff. So let's so that there were no more epic fantasy and ya fantasy books. I suppose I enjoy reading detective fiction and thrillers. Both Agatha Christie and James Patterson write some good stories. I wouldn't give up reading completely. However if all I had was the encyclopedia and the dictionary to read, I may just watch movies.

In the traditional sense, no. In stories that are strictly a good vs evil, I usually don't root for the villain because its pretty obvious that it isn't going to end well for them. BUT, as any fan of epic fantasy may know, the line between good and evil is extremely thin if even there at all. There are quite a few series in which the good guys are suddenly bad guys which can really change the reader's perspective on the story. That is a large part to why I LOVE epic fantasy so much. So who are these lovable "bad guys"? Tyrion Lannister from Song of Ice and Fire Series. Daemon Sa'Diablo from Black Jewels, Raistlin from Dragonlance, and so many others.

Friday Blog Hops #2

The question this week over at Book Blogger Hop is: “What are you most looking forward to this fall/autumn season – A particular book release? Halloween? The leaves changing color? Cooler temperatures? A vacation? (If your next season is other than fall/autumn, tell us about it and what you are most looking forward to in your part of the world!)”

I absolutely love Halloween. It might possibly be my favorite holiday. There is always something to do and you get to dress up. This year I'm hoping to go as Cleopatra. If it's too hot to wear a wig though, I'm going to have to think of something else!

I think the book I'm most excited for this fall is The Pledge by Kimberly Derting. I love reading authors ideas of dystopian futures, and this one sounds dangerous and awesome. Plus, I really enjoyed The Body Finder by the same author.

Edit: OMG I can't believe I forgot the most important thing that happens in the fall. FOOTBALL! Yes, I do love NFL football (you can blame my husband for that). I never thought I could be so happy and so angry all in the span of a few hours. If you are a football fan post your fave team! No smack talk though ya'll!

The question of the week on Book Blogger Hop: Non-book related this week! Do you have any pets?

Why, yes I do!! I have 2 wonderful mutts. Riot (right) is 3 year old pit mix and Blitz is a 2 year old boston/jack russell. They like to chase each other around the house and the tiny one makes tough guy noises. It's hilarious! They are my furry children, and they are way too spoiled!

This week's question: In some books like the Sookie Stackhouse series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish this would happen with in real life?

Well I am definitely not going to say vampires. That's way too risky, because I bet most vampires just don't go around being sparkly all the time. Sticking with the animal theme today, I'm going to say shifters. Not were wolves, because I know I wouldn't want to be constricted to changing into only a wolf. But a shifter who can be any animal. Granted, I would then be a little concerned that my dogs would be keeping secrets from me, but I think they already do anyway.
